Birth Of A Rich Man (Korean Drama 2010)

I recently finished watching the Korean television drama series on KBS World - titled Birth Of A Rich Man, also known as Becoming A Millionaire. I tweeted about this series a while back ago. The series stars Lee Bo-Yeong as Lee Shin-Mi, she also starred in The Partner, another KBS series that I blogged about last year.
The story revolves around Choi Seok Bong who is looking for his billionaire father, who doesn't know his existence. The problem is the Seok Bong doesn't know who his rich father is either. He works as a bellboy in a luxurious hotel hoping to find his father there.
Seok Bong practices the elegant lifestyles of the rich in the hotel so that he will be a qualified billionaire heir when he finds his father. Seok Bong was told that he is diagnosed with cancer, obviously without enough money for medical treatment, Seok Bong relies on billionaire Oh-Sung Group's heiress Lee Shin-Mi who is also known as the notorious penny-pincher!

Self proclaimed as Lee Shin-Mi rival - Bu-Ho Group's heiress Bu Tae-Hee is a supporting character in the series, which made the series really entertaining and comedic throughout the series! Tae-Hee is a spoiled child who always spent her dads' money without even have to lift a finger to work, Tae-Hee is in love Frontier Group heir Choo Woon-Seok since high school, but Woon-Seok is always buying gifts for Shin-Mi, which always upsets the easily emotional Tae-Hee, Woon-Seok has a hidden motive for wanting Shin-Mi as his girlfriend.
Bu Tae-Hee always make funny looks and faces throughout the series which is really really really funny...which made me laugh uncontrollably. Check out the pictures below!
Actress Lee Si-Yeong made the character really entertaining, I wonder if there's any person that's so crazy walking around on the streets...LOL

Beethoven Virus (2008) Korean Drama

It's another TV program that's related to music, I can't resist programs like this. It's like High School Musical all over again but Beethoven Virus is about classical music. Two musicians who retired from their musical careers for different reasons join together with a demanding conductor to form an orchestra against all odds.
Three people with different personalities (Kang "Ma-ae" Gung Woo, Du Ru Mi, and Kang Gung Woo) and different life experinces gather together under a common dream and they find love and the room to forgive each other as they eventually earn each other's respect.Du Ru Mi is a violist who was cheated by a conductor when she paid the Maestro to conduct for her orchestra, Du Ru Mi then invites Kang Gung Woo who is also known as the "Orchestra Killer" to conduct for her orchestra. Young Kang Gung Woo who shares the same name as the Maestro is a cop and also a trumpet player without formal music training. Young Kang harbours an exquisite musical talent under his strong character. The three musicians soon get tangled up in a love triangle.I came across this series when I was shopping for DVDs at Speedy Video store...after reading the synopsis at the store, i decided to buy the series, and i was not dissapointed. I really enjoy watching the series, some of the thing I watched in the series reminded me of the things I learned when I was studying my Music paper in college. The best part when you're watching the series on DVD is the quality of the sound, when the orchestra is playing in the show, you can hear everything clearly, every beat and tempo, the bass and everything...of course you need a cool surround system too..After watching the third episode, I noticed that there's some really good background orchestral tracks...I googled for the songs and found that there's a soundtrack for the series and saw that there's more than 20 tracks of orchestral background music from the series, all are original composed songs for the series. So i got the Special Edition Beethoven Special Soundtrack which consist of 3 music CDs.
The first CD has 23 tracks which also includes a bonus track titled "Can You Hear Me" performed by Jang Geun-Seok who plays the young Kang Gung Woo in the series...the 2nd and 3rd disc are all classical music performed and conducted by various orchestral groups.

My Fair Lady (2009) Korean Drama

Kang Hyena, the successor of Kangsan Group is the owner of the "Lady Castle" and lives a princess life with her servants. Hyena Kang is the only child when her parents died in a plane accident and her grandfather brought her up.
Kang Hyena is a selfish, hot-headed person, stucked up, and the world revolves around her. On "a fine day", Hyena met Seo Dong-chan, made his life miserable, and end up herself in a community service thanks to Dong-chan. As a favour of revenge, Hyena pretends to be kidnaped by Dong-chan. When Dong-chan went to the castle to feud with Hyena, he ended up becoming her personal butler and made a promise to Hyena's grandfather that he will change her bad attitudes.
That's just a brief story of the drama first episode, there's one character in the series that's really cute and adorable! Kang Hyena's little cousin brother Kang Soo-min (who has a crush on Hyena) who always show a zen expression in front of his parents. His parents are always plotting on taking over Kangsan Group, and he pities for Hyena. He's also always making fun of his sister, screaming at his parents, and asking weird funny demands from the butlers. The character is sooooo cute and adorable!
I just got the OST of the series, there's some really cool tracks in it, one of them is sung by Yoon Eun-hye, the actress who plays Kang Hyena titled "Dash Girl". The theme for the series Hot Stuff is also a nice song, sung by Davichi. Some of the instrumentals are really nice too.
My Fair Lady is currently airing on KBS World (Astro 303) on Wednesday and Thursday at 9pm.

The Partner (2009) Korean Drama

This is another Korean drama that i watched during the final exam on KBS World.XD This Korean series is titled "The Partner", it's about two law firms that struggles to defend the accussed and those around them. Two brothers work in a two seperate law firms they don't really like each other. (for some reasons) The story starts with Kang Eun-ho (Kim Hyun-joo) trying to look for a job in Seoul to support her son. She got herself a job through her grandfather...and end up tangling with her charismatic and ruthless attorney colleague Lee Tae-Jo (Lee Dong-wook).

They always "argue and fight", one time when Tae-jo wants to break free from Eun-ho grasp because she was reasoning and holding him tightly, and he doesn't want to listen to her, as he was trying to break free, he struggled too hard and farted...HAHAHAHAHA...i've never seen such kind of scene in any Hollywood or HK shows...
This law series is so different compared to those i watched from Hong Kong TVB series, maybe i'm new to the Korean TV culture, i find their humour really cute, square, and little harsh and straighforward sometimes, which can really hurt people feelings, but i think it's their culture to be funny in such a way.

The way they handle cases is a little maybe alot different compared to the HK series. Attorneys calling their client a midget, clients touching their attorney boobies in the courtroom...so weird
In the law firm that Eun-ho and Tae-jo work there's this really cute & weird character - Choi Sun-yi (Shin Yi), she doesn't really show any emotion when she speaks. She's like "blur", but not blur, when one of her colleague shouted at her, she end up telling herself she likes that guy...LOL
(She's the one in the bottom middle, the guy on her left is the one who shouted at her) The main characters are having a fight in the scene below and their colleagues got a "free show"...LOL
Anyway, i will let you guys...i mean girls...to feast your eyes on Lee Dong-wook...LOL, you won't be seeing him for a while, he's currently serving his mandatory military service in South Korea, so he won't be acting for a while.
The series ended last week on KBS World. So you gotta buy the DVD when it's in stores if you haven't or want to watch it.

He Who Can't Marry (2009)

When I was bored of reading my notes during the last exam, the only thing I could do is to watch TV. And since American Idol won't be back till Jan 2010, and there's no Wisteria Lane or Mode Magazine until October...there wasn't much to watch on Astro. I lost my internet connection during that period.

I came across this Korean Drama/Comedy on KBS World (Channel 303). It's called "He Who Can't Marry". It's a story about a 40 year old single architect who lives alone and don't have many friends because he don't know how to communicate with other people.
It's my first time watching a Korean series and i really like the show. For once i get to watch different people on TV. It's more of a comedy than a drama. The architect Jo Jae-hee (by JiJin-hee) is quite a funny character. Imagine a 40 year old guy who sits in his apartment balcony at night drinking milk and admiring the stars. He has his own way of cooking his beef too. His eyes sparkles everytime he looks at his beef. LOL
Then Jae-hee met this doctor Jang Moon-jeong (Uhm Jung-hwa) when he had hemorrhoids...in the funniest way...when he was admiring the stars and listening to some Orchestral music, his neighbour Jeong Yu-jin (Kim So-eun) was banging on his door complaining that his music was too loud, but ended up sending him to the hospital.

This architect wanted to leave the hospital upon hearing Dr. Jang wanted to give him an anal test. Saying he's fine even though he can hardly walk! After a while in the show, Jae-hee found his neighbour Yu-jin fainted in her apartment for alcohol poisoning and sent her to the hospital. The same night (also his birthday) he was sent to the hospital again by the same ambulance (funny scene) because the did not take his medication for his hemorrhiods. This time Dr. Jang did not show him any mercy and gave him a forced anal check by pulling off his pants...LOL...and a love story begins...
