The only contestant who has not been in the bottom 3 this season finally left the competition with the lowest number of votes this week. Kris Allen was the first contestant to be in the finals followed by Adam Lambert. Danny Gokey won't really be going home this week, he will return to the Idol stage next week for the finale.The show started with Night at the Museum: Battle Of The Smithsonian stars Ben Stiller, Hank Azaria, Bill Hader and Jonah Hill starring in a skit in front of the judges tables being inducted into the Smithsonian.
The first performance was some rapper from Rwanda named Noah, with Alicia Keys urging fans to support her charity, i'm not into rap songs so i didn't enjoy the whole performance, and there's more than 5 backup singers for that performance, totally unnecessary.
Season 6 winner Jordin Sparks returned to the Idol stage to perform her new single Battlefield accompanied by One Repulic's Ryan Tedder. Heard the song once and instantly loved it! The song doesn't sound as sweet as Jordin previous songs...but it's a really nice song.
The Top 3 Hometown Heroes Welcome was as usual, emotional and tons of girls screaming...LOL. And the final guest to perform was Katy Perry, she performed her new single "Waking Up In Vegas" and it was another over the top performance, she wore a cape emblazoned with Adam Lambert's name, a few Vegas showgirls dancers, and cash dollars as confetti...totally over the top!
It's Melinda Doolittle situation all over again this season, Melinda from season 6 has never been in the bottom 3 before but was sent home a week before the finale, i was kinda expecting a Danny and Kris/Adam finale...kinda dissapointed. 1 million votes seperated between Kris and Adam...Danny sang brilliantly once again before leaving the show.
