Fong Lye Restaurant

After doing some shopping at KLCC yesterday, and meeting few of the High School Musical Summer Celebration cast, I went to the Fong Lye Taiwanese restaurant in Jalan Imbi. It has been ages since I last went there with my family. The last time I went there was ages ago.
The restaurant started its business around 12-14 years ago...and my family was a regular customer, I still remember my parents bringing me there for lunch every weekend after buying me toys at Sungai Wang Mall...

I didn't visit the restaurant ever since it renovated, so yesterday when we went there for dinner, one of the employee (captain i guess) recognized us...and my mum recognized her too...my mum was shocked that she was still working at the restaurant, she said she worked there since 1990. And she said that I used to go to the restaurant when I was a little kid...she asked if I still remember her...I smiled back, of course I remembered!! My mum was impressed that she worked for the restaurant for so many years.

When they served us the appetizers/ tidbits, anchovies with tofu marinated in sweet sour sauce, the moment I took the first back, those nostalgic feeling came back to me, the food still taste the same, that plate of of appetizers is filled with nostalgic memories...

And we ordered the main dish that we used to order back then, "Three Cup Chicken" which is my favourite, pork served with fungus and ginger, four angle beans served with ginger and chili, mapo tofu, and a new dish cabbage baked with cheese...My favourite is the "Three Cup Chicken"

The "Three Cup Chicken" is served in a claypot with ginger and basil...When I took the first bite, I felt sooooo hyper...I missed the 3 Cup Chicken SO MUCH, it was so nice!!! The others tasted nice as well!!! I didn't bring my camera so there's no pictures...

After the dinner, we were served a shot of sour plum juice...it was really nice and refreshing compared to the thick apple tea I had in another Taiwan Restaurant...and a huge plate of fruits for desserts...When we're about to leave the restaurant, the "captain" purposely came to say goodbye when she taking someone else order...how sweet of her.

We passed by the Chef Rasa Sayang Restaurant when we're going to get our car and coincidentally the captain of the restaurant was standing outside of the restaurant, my mum chatted a while with her and asked why we didn't go to the restaurant for dinner...LOL, my mum suggested lobster when we go Chef Rasa Sayang for dinner next time...

The Fong Lye Restaurant at The Gardens shares the same name with the one in Jalan Imbi and Desa Sri Hartamas but the one at The Gardens serves "fast food" and its cheaper.

Another Spooky Story

When I went to Shabu One Steamboat Buffet last Friday, I found out (well not me)...it all started when......something happened...

My 9 nine year old cousin sister saw something...apparently she saw something that the human eyes are not supposed to see. She told her mum (my aunt) that she saw something at the restaurant, it was around 10pm when we had our dinner, we were sitting at the back of the restaurant because we were dining on two tables, so we were sitting at the quiet section where our back is facing the glass windows (facing the monorail station). My aunt didn't see anything and told my cousin that she probably saw someones shadow.

Incidents like these happened before, my aunt told my mum (during the dinner) one time when my aunt brought my cousin sister to the temple to pray, she said that my cousin face suddenly turned green, real green, the monk at the temple gave her an amulet to wear around her neck and her face turned pink again, the monk said that my cousin sister saw something that she was not supposed to see and my cousin was most probably frightened when she saw things that she's not supposed to see.

Another few more incidents like this happened to my cousin sister, at first my aunt didn't suspect anything and thought my cousin saw someones shadow, but I think my aunt started to feel weird when my cousin kept telling her she seeing things.

My cousin is just a kid and she doesn't know things like this, when I heard that she can see things I felt chills went up my spine...i don't feel like writing a more detailed post here...it freaks me out...

OK OK...one more...One of my mum colleague friend, one time they were having dinner at a mamak stall, suddenly one of the friend told the gang to leave and go somewhere else for dinner, this particular friend can also see things that he's not supposed to see...after they left, he said their food on their table is being eaten by something else...OK...this is freaking me out...

Beethoven Virus (2008) Korean Drama

It's another TV program that's related to music, I can't resist programs like this. It's like High School Musical all over again but Beethoven Virus is about classical music. Two musicians who retired from their musical careers for different reasons join together with a demanding conductor to form an orchestra against all odds.
Three people with different personalities (Kang "Ma-ae" Gung Woo, Du Ru Mi, and Kang Gung Woo) and different life experinces gather together under a common dream and they find love and the room to forgive each other as they eventually earn each other's respect.Du Ru Mi is a violist who was cheated by a conductor when she paid the Maestro to conduct for her orchestra, Du Ru Mi then invites Kang Gung Woo who is also known as the "Orchestra Killer" to conduct for her orchestra. Young Kang Gung Woo who shares the same name as the Maestro is a cop and also a trumpet player without formal music training. Young Kang harbours an exquisite musical talent under his strong character. The three musicians soon get tangled up in a love triangle.I came across this series when I was shopping for DVDs at Speedy Video store...after reading the synopsis at the store, i decided to buy the series, and i was not dissapointed. I really enjoy watching the series, some of the thing I watched in the series reminded me of the things I learned when I was studying my Music paper in college. The best part when you're watching the series on DVD is the quality of the sound, when the orchestra is playing in the show, you can hear everything clearly, every beat and tempo, the bass and everything...of course you need a cool surround system too..After watching the third episode, I noticed that there's some really good background orchestral tracks...I googled for the songs and found that there's a soundtrack for the series and saw that there's more than 20 tracks of orchestral background music from the series, all are original composed songs for the series. So i got the Special Edition Beethoven Special Soundtrack which consist of 3 music CDs.
The first CD has 23 tracks which also includes a bonus track titled "Can You Hear Me" performed by Jang Geun-Seok who plays the young Kang Gung Woo in the series...the 2nd and 3rd disc are all classical music performed and conducted by various orchestral groups.

Shabu One Steamboat Buffet - Lot 10

Last Friday I went to Shabu One with my cousins for dinner. I didn't know there was a steamboat buffet restaurant inside Lot 10. We went there around 9.30pm...I was starving and the shops inside the mall were already closing. There's many choices of soups for your steamboat (I think there's around 7 or 8), but we chose the normal herbal soup and Japanese anchovies soup, no one wanted the spicy soup...

There's many kind of dishes served at the restaurant, I don't find it interesting, the meatballs looks like those you can find at the supermarket (but I had to try some of them there's many variety of meatballs served), I only liked the variety of vegetables and noodles they offer for your steamboat.

There's also beef and poultry slices served at another section, I tried the beef but it was really really bad, but the Taiwanese beef slices was really good, the chicken slices was OK too...There's another section that's serve readily cooked food...I tried some of those and some of it was really bad...

My favourite part of the meal are the desserts...i love the frozen milk yogurt, the coconut pudding and the pumpkin pudding...i ate tons of them, and the Tiramisu too...i had 5 of those...and there's also the Japanese mochi...and there's many ice-cream flavours to choose from, I like the honeydew flavoured ice-cream...it's quite nice...We chatted for a while and left the restaurant around 12am...the restaurant closes at 0100...the mall was so quiet and empty...

Bosco Wong at Pavilion KL

I went to Pavilion KL today alone to shop for some clothes, and guess who i spotted?! Hong Kong actor Bosco Wong!!! It all started when I came out from Esprit. After browsing for some clothes in Esprit for a while, I went out of the shop and walk around and stood around that area for a while.

I was hunting for the next clothes store to go, until he appeared. I saw a man walking towards me, in a hat, covered his body with a huge scarf, a few of his entourage was walking around him (most of them was behind him), I was standing there alone, not many shoppers were around that area.

When he came closer towards me, I looked at him...and he looked at me...he was next to me, and we had direct eye contact...I FROZE! After a few seconds, my back was facing his back already, I was star struck without any "mental preparation"...I took out my mobile and called my friend Suat...she was working at LowYat that time, I told her I saw Bosco (she's a Bosco fan), I couldn't talk properly, I was so excited...Suat told me to go get an autograph and picture from him...I didn't bring my camera...my mobile camera is a lousy 2.0MP camera...my 12MP camera is at home!!!

So I switched into paparazzi mode and stalked Bosco for a while (since I don't know what shop I should go next) I was shocked when he went into Topman...(it's like a cheap store for a star to go in, I don't even buy the clothes there...so cheap and there's 50% going on)Bosco Wong and his entourage was browsing for some clothes in Topman...I noticed him walking around in the store...browsing the clothes over and over again...maybe he couldn't find something he like...I noticed him looking at some t-shirts that hanging on the wall...I noticed those tees are quite nice...I didn't know he bought any of it...after a while he was making a two thumbs up gesture at his entourage...maybe they saw something they liked and Bosco was giving them a two thumbs up...I was bored of stalking him...so I went back to my original mission...to shop for more clothes! And left Pavilion around 8pm...I wonder what is Bosco Wong doing in KL...a quiet holiday?
I told my mum about it and she said the same thing about Topman..."so cheap" "Why HK don't have Topman meh?"...LOL

Mr. Insulter EuroDeli

It's bad enough when a 40++ year old lecturer gives a boring lecture, but to praise himself as a powerful speaker after in a boring almost empty lecture hall is like taking narcissism to a whole new level!

Imagine this: after 5 weeks of his lecture, i have no idea what he taught us! My definition of a good speaker and lecturer is when students pay 100% attention to their speech and understands the message that they convey!

This STUPID Mr. EuroDeli can't even pronounce Nike and Apple properly. During one of his lecture, he was yapping away and suddenly he said something - "Nick-Kay", i didn't know what he was saying until he said "Nick-Kay" the sport brand!!! I was like "What The...!!!" "Nick-Kay"? Are you kidding? He can't even pronounce Nike properly and he calls himself a good speaker? Everyone in the lecture hall was laughing away at him and he taught he was giving a good speech and continued yapping about his "Nick-Kay" and he doesn't know what we're laughing about...

Everytime before his lecture, he takes more than 5 minutes to open his file from the pen drive. The STUPID excuse he gave us was and I quote him "I'm using Vista at home and the college is using XP"! Are you kidding?! It's the same way to open the files from your pendrive on Microsoft Vista and XP!!! And he gave such a STUPID excuse! And when he uses the PowerPoint slides, he doesn't switch it to full-screen slide show mode. We can see everything on the projector. (Maybe he doesn't know how to switch to full-screen slide show mode) LOL

Last week, his lecture was boring again (as usual), there was some content error in his Power Point slides, apparently the content was not linked to the next slide, and he didn't know what content was missing in his slide, guess how he solve his problem...he SKIPPED the WHOLE thing and went to the next sub-topic...This happen a few times last week, so many slides and sub-topic was skipped and we had no idea what we are learning anymore. Since we're lost, and he pretended nothing happened, we just chat away among ourselves after that.

His voice...is so loud!!! His hobby is to scream suddenly and raise his voice during his speech, I can feel my eardrums are trying to pop and bleed everytime, and I have to cover one side of my ears because his voice is so loud and it really hurt my ears...I'm serious about it! And I heard other course mates saying that his saliva spits is really terrible when he's talking (I experienced it in the tutor class when i saw his saliva is leaking from both sides of his mouth...EUW MUCH!)

His walking and standing posture, is definitely a sore to the eyes. The way he walk is like trying to kick the small stones on the ground, it looked so uncivilized to me, and when he stands, he pulls his pants up to his tummy and the whole pants looked so "yucky"...*vomits* I can't describe it.

I think Mr. EuroDeli don't realise this, his hands is always making weird gesture on the table like the finger move from left to right and right to left when he's talking, and drawing circles on the table with his fingers....that's so creepy!

My purpose of this post, he insulted me and my class, or should I say...my course MS today. In the tutorial class today, he picked me to answer his tutorial questions, when I was about to answer he asked to use my own words, i wasn't prepared to use my own words, so I just translated the text on the book to my own words without preparation...and I was translating and talking at the same time and I wasn't presenting it properly (even I myself know I'm not presenting properly) I answered all his questions with the correct answers, and he told me to "talk more"

I was like..."talk more" about what?! I stood there quietly and waited and looked at him...and he wanted the advantages of the things I said...WTH...the questions on the whiteboard didn't want advantage answers...and he gave me F for giving such a lousy speech...F!@# LAH, STUPID MAN don't even know what he wants in his questions and asked for answers that is not related to the question! This happened again when my classmate presented his answers for the 2nd question, Mr EuroDeli wanted something else again, another classmate tried to help the 2nd "victim" and Mr EuroDeli screamed and shouted at her when she helped victim 2 to answer the question...WTH!

And the end of the tutorial class...he said our course is "Rojak" WTH!!! How can a lecturer insult his own students and the course that he's teaching?! I no longer have any respect towards him.

P.S: Rojak is a Malaysian food. Cucumbers, Pineapples, Papayas, and few other fruits are mixed together with spicy prawn paste.

Carrie Underwood - Play On

Finally, American Idol 4 winner Carrie Underwood's 3rd studio album "Play On" has arrived!
The first track Cowboy Casanova shows Carrie rock sassy side, reminds me of "Before He Cheats" and "Last Name" from her previous albums Some Hearts and Carnival Ride, maybe the songs are about men cheating on girls or one night stand kind of sitch...

I really like the second track "Quitter", it's an up-tempo country song, singing about being a quitter, dumping your boyfriends until she meets a guy that made her doesn't want to quit on him...

"Mama's Song" is another song that has similar meaning to one of Carrie's song in her debut album, "Don't Forget To Remember Me", Mama's Song is about mama giving her daughter away to her "soon to be husband".

"Change" is another song that has similar melody (30%) to one of Carrie's song "Just A Dream". Another song "What Can I Say" features Sons of Sylvia, quite a nice one.

I liked the new album from Carrie Underwood, she did not disappoint although some of the songs are so similar to the previous ones, my other favourite tracks are "Songs Like This"and "Play On". Some of her songs are really meaningful - about life. Carrie is the reason that i keep listening to country music, sometimes i have to listen to other stuff and not to those"boring-relationship-love-breakup-boy meets girl-cinderella" kind of song!

My Top 5 Treat List

I'll be turning 21 years old this year, and most of my friends and classmates already celebrated their birthdays. It will be my turn soon in December, since it's November now, it's time that i compile a list of things that I want to get myself, for the past 2 years, i spent my birthday at shopping malls with my college friends buying presents for myself. LOL (of course they bought me something nice too)

I always buy myself stuff that can last for a long time, i don't care if it goes out of style, as long the things I buy can fulfill its duty to their master! LOL

I gonna get myself a new watch! My 8 year old Nike watch finally stopped working, i've been using it since Form 1 till my 3rd year in college. I wear my watch everywhere I go, even to the coffee shop, it has been a habit since I was child to wear a watch, my parents trained me to wear a watch everywhere i go, a nice Tag Heuer Carrera Men Automatic Chronograph Tachymetre will be nice, i think it cost around RM5000! I think such an expensive can last me for more than 15 years!I need to change my computer too, FYI, i've been using this current CPU of mine since primary school, i've been constantly sending it for repair and upgrade for at least 3 times a year! And the DVD player is not working properly anymore. Btw, my computer monitor is not functioning properly anymore, it can shut off by itself, and sometimes i can't turn it on, it's so frustrating sometimes. For my birthday, a new Inspiron 13 from Dell can solve all this frustrations i'm having now. I can use a laptop for my presentations in college, furthermore, i can bring it to LJMU in UK, no more lagging when i'm using the internet with the Intel Centrino 2 processor technology, and there's a build in webcam too...an essential need when you're going overseas for studies!I need a new mobile phone!!! I've been using this Nokia 6260 since 2004! I have two friends from college who are using the same model, but their 6260 didn't last as long as mine. They did not maintain their mobile condition as well as i did. But it's time to change my mobile coz it's has been turning off by itself lately, and the whole system jams up when i'm text messaging. I think i'm gonna get a Nokia E66, it seems slide phone is like the current "fashion" for mobiles now...back in 2004 flip phone was a trend, now it's slide...3 of my cousins and my brother is using slide phones...so i think i'm gonna get one too, and use it for another 5 years!Next, a wallet. I need a new wallet, my current wallet is getting old and rotting, the leather is coming off bit by bit, everytime i take it out from my pocket a tiny shred of the leather comes off. I saw a nice Tommy Hilfiger Passcase wallet online on Amazon.com few weeks ago. The design resembles my design of my current wallet, so i don't really have to rearrange my credit cards and money in this new wallet, i just place it back at the same position as my current wallet. And finally, i need a new printer. OMG, my HP deskjet 3535 is no longer working, i can't print my college timetables (i have to memorize all the classes in my head!) and my assignments, I have to hand in another assignment this week and i have no printer to print the work...GAH, i went to LowYat plaza the other day and my classmate Suat recommended me to buy a Canon Pixma MP198. It's a All-in-One printer, i can scan, photocopy and print with one machine...totally convenient!
